Abstraction 2 is a painting created as part of a kaleidoscopic series by Ardra Vanessa in 2020. In the year 2020, Ardra Vanessa was very ill and perhaps had Covid but was never tested for it as this predated the test for Covid. The United States under severe pandemic threat advised people not to leave their houses. Ardra Vanessa created the abstraction series of paintings, inspired by the art of family members and perhaps a feeling of wanting some control over her life. We see shapes of color in an orderly and controlled fashion. With a mastery of color theory and an eye for design- these paintings pop and are perhaps also influenced by the pop art era of the 1950s. A time when people felt controlled by a government that otherwise did not have things under control.
